HYDEN FAMILIES

This page is devoted to information on the HYDEN families which I collected while pursuing the HYTEN and HITEN families. Several branches of the latter were actually connected to the HYDENs. While I collected HYDEN information I did not always follow normal genealogy protocol, that is, I sometimes connected names where I supposed them to belong rather than where I absolutely knew they belonged. It was a correction to a part of my HYDEN tree that connected a branch of HYTENs to the HYDENs. It is my goal to trace HYTENs thus I was happy for that help, and now I hope for yours.

This post is to let you know that I have to change my email address. The provider that I have been using for nearly 35 years, EKIT, is closing down in October. I will be using gmail now guessing that Goggle will not be going out of business.

My new address will be: hytenjr@gmail.com

I would appreciate it if you would send ‘OK’ email to the new site so I can know you got this message. I know that I haven’t been in contact with some of you for years but I never forget a friendly contact. Your response will awaken old memories.

For all the HIDENs in my address book …. I’d like to catch up with the changes in your family’s life.  Late in each year I try to update our family tree. I know from some of your Facebook pages that there have been marriages and births but few have provided details. Let me know what has happened inner family the past ten years.

JANUARY, 2019, UPDATES

I have updated pages 2, 4, 5, 5a, 5b, 5c, and 7 based on new information I got last fall from Joyce Dishroon. The information was contained in the collected works of Barbara Long organized in 2014.
There were a few new names and lots of dates. I trust that her work was much more thorough than mine since I depended on published research rather than original documents. There were a couple instances when I thought my dates might have been good so in those instances I included both dates.
My HYDEN research was done when discovered that some branches in my HYTEN family were headed by men named Hyden. First I verified the ancestry that particular Hyden-Hyten. Then I looked to see if the head of other unconnected HYTEN branches might also be Hydens. I ended up with five branches headed by a  Hyden. All these are noted on these HYDEN trees. (All Hyten-Hyden branches go back to rural counties in a time when many people couldn't read or write thus depended upon the recorder to spell their name.)
My work here was posted in order to help Hydens find their place in the HYDEN family tree. It becomes the job of  each person to further verify names and dates, etc.
Feel free to call me if you have difficulty following through these charts. Also if you can provide further or corrected information as many people have used my information as a starting point. I don't want anyone to have to chase after wrong information.

DECEMBER 2014 UPDATES

Three pages have been updated:   5c,  11,  and 14.

FEB. 2014 UPDATE

 Uing   http://www.geni.com/surnames/hyden  I UPDATED PAGES 1, 2, 2a, 2b, 4,  12a, and 17.

I have to admit that I found many contradiction on the site including the placement of people in the wrong generation. The information that I thought was correct, I entered on these updated pages in BLUE print. Blue on other pages is from the 1012 update.

I should repeat again that I didn't create any of these trees using research that I myself collected so I can not swear as to their accuracy. This is because my reason for researching HYDENs is to find if any of the HYTENs or HITENs that I follow may have been Hydens who at some point changed the spelling of their names from Hyden. In five different instances I found this to be true. If you go the  www.hytenhiten.blogspot.com   you will see those who were Hydens and those whom I have yet to connect anywhere.

SITE COMPLETELY REVISED IN SEPT. 2012

After spending two to four hours a day for six weeks everything on this site has been updated. I had done little to update it since I first created the HYDEN trees in 2006. What changes had been made were prompted by many Hydens who had contacted me. Those contacts had been very valuable to my HYTEN and HITEN research particularly when they placed my huge unconnected William Hyten branch in the Hyden family.
I have name list of 1933 Hydens which is too large to post. there are 277 on the Index to Head of Household list which is posted.
I am hoping that another big push might result in connecting the Indiana Henry Hitens to someone. Also that it would make a clearer connection of the Oklahoma Sylvanus Hitens and Texas Samuel Gwinn Hytens to the Hyden family.

I want to make it clear that my Hyden work does not meet proper genealogy research standards. It includes no personal research. It is a compilation of data from online searches and phone conversations. I know some find it wrong to put speculate in print but my Hyden work is about finding Hytens not verify Hydens. I am reasonably sure of the connection I have made ... but not positively sure.
I welcome corrections and updates ... I have virtually no 21st century data.
I have no notes telling me where the information came from but the fact that I found it fairly easily means you can properly track it down and work toward proper verification.

Throughout this document items are printed in italics indicating that sources were unclear, conflicting, or estimated. Anything printed in blue is either new or changed from the previously posted data.
Green print denotes unconnected branches and red unconnected individuals or small family groups. Dark red denotes branches of Hydens that changed their name from Hyden to Hyten or Hiten .... the people in which I am interested.
Each generation of Hydens has been given a color on the trees so you can calculate how for a person is from Francis Heyden/Hyden at the top of the tree.

Pass along the word of the existence of this site so all Hydens might benefit.

INDEX of HEADS of HOUSEHOLDS

Each male who fathered Hyden children is given an identifying abbreviation such as (W) or (WT) or (Wi) which identify three different Williams. These abbreviations are used in the Index of Heads of Households which follows. There are 277 names in that Index. If you find your Father or Grandfather in the Index you can then be directed to the page number (on the left) of the HYDEN Family Tree upon which they reside.
